Rollerskating and other Occurences

The puppy sleeps like a ROCK with the heating pad on low.  And laying in my bed.

This had mixed results.  The blue side was streaky blue, the dark purple side looks like  her regular dark brown hair color in all but super bright light.  So it looks like half her hair was attacked by little girls with markers.  Which has happened.

Last night we met friends to go roller skating at Skate Odessey.  First, the woman there made us go back outside and wait, despite the building being open and WARM (it was 22 out with wind chill in the teens) and almost no one was inside (a Relay for Life event was going on, there were maybe 10 people total)
We had 11 kids, 4 under 10 and it was COLD.  We had to wait 10 minutes.

Then the woman let us in and Amanda has 4 kids, Katy has 4 kids.  Amanda paid for 3 and went in.  I paid for my 3 and went in.  She charged Katy for Owen, who was not skating. Her reason was that people drop their kids off to hang out and not skate.  He was sitting with 3 adults the whole time!

We opted to boycott the concessions and arcade in protest.

I cropped it funny to crop out the littles and blurry Beck who did not want to be in the shot.  :)  Owen looks less than thrilled himself!
Elan was there, but had gone out to his car because he had hurt his wrist in a fall and did not want to mess with skating any more.  They found out a few days later that it's broken!  :(

We went to...Taco Bell!  LOL
This was meant to be a cute cuddle shot, but it looks like he knocked her out and dragged her in.  ack!!

Back home, Matt had been on dog duty and Nia was NOT happy that the puppy wanted some snuggles.

Kaiju has not healed well from her spay, she's too active!  The vet gave me some stuff but wants to see her early next week, she may need to be restitched and there's a little concern about the underlying muscle because it's bulging.  If that happens, we will have to board her there for a day or two until she is well on the mend and then stay with her around the clock, but I don't know how to keep her calm, she's either asleep or leaping around like the floor is electric.

Weekend Again!

It's the first weekend of the new year!  Well, first full weekend anyhow.

Yesterday was skate day, the kids love skate day.  I don't know if it's the exercise that makes them feel so good or seeing friends or the tiny glass of corn-syrup soda they get for 'free!', but mountains must move in order to keep us from going.  Yesterday (I spelled that yestherday, hahahaha! The ego on SOME people) was double vital because it was the start of Keilee's birthday sleep-over!

I guess you don't really put the word album ON the album, but...oh well.

We all decided, quite spontaneously, to go to the beach for the weekend and plans were quickly laid.  I did not even consult Matt, so certain he would be up for going.  We came home with Zachary so he could ride down with us and told Matt, who WAS all for going...except for a small matter of a work issue that had to be handled Saturday morning.  It was done by 10, but that would have put us pulling into the campground at sunset, so we made the calls and had to postpone.  I have been playing 'if we were at the beach' with myself all day, though Gina said this morning that she and Cody both were not feeling well, so I think it all worked out for the best.

The boys had a blast staying up late and giggling until the single-digit hours.  Zachary had gotten to the level of being stupid tired, so everything he said was hilarious...to him.  He would say things like, "Dragons that breathe ice...out their NOSE!" and nearly fall over laughing.  It was like having a 4-foot drunk person, trying to shush him and get him to just lie down for a minute and he'd think of another knee-slapper and the later it got, the funnier it got and I had the giggles myself and it went downhill from there.  Ben finally gave up and just went to bed.  hahaha!

Today, we had a few other plans that fell through one by one as the weather worsened.  We ended up watching a couple shows on Netflix and I ran/walked my 4 miles while Matt made lunch and then he hopped on the treadmill.  My weight is stalled again, 2 pounds from my halfway point-which is where I was November 2 before I yo-yoed 7 pounds and I have been here for 3 weeks.  I weigh again in the morning, I am hoping for something new!  Lower, new.  LOL, NOT higher, that would suck.  Matt decided to start losing weight at the first of the year and he's dropped 6 pounds the first week.  Some things are just so wrong, there's simply no way to justify them.

Tuesday

First, a few shots from last skate day:

Then, dinner Friday night, which was Garbanzo Bean Day.
(Though it was REALLY National Pierogi Day, which we will celebrate a week late this year)

I at least had garbanzo, so we celebrated.  And...I brought my food in here and took a picture at my desk instead of taking the camera into the kitchen.  See the 1970 wall heater?

We had hummus and falafel, both made with...Garbanzo!  The green stuff is couscous-I only had enough to make 2 servings, so we split it 5 ways-and the thing next to my cucumber tomato salad bowl is quinoa.  That's flatbread on top of my laptop.  Talk about REALLY bad staging-you can even see my shadow!  I blame severe hunger.  I had a protein drink at home before we left, planning to eat in town and I never did.  So it was 12 hours later when I got to sit down and eat FOOD for the first time all day.
The skating rink and Sonic just don't have what I would consider worthwhile exchange.  My money for their processed white flour and sugar?...nah.  The kids decided it was a great trade and had watermelon slushies with lemons.  haha!

Saturday, I did pics in the pasture, which are elsewhere, but I also took some of MEEEE and Jess and stuff:

This is a picture of Zephyr!

My summer hair is thinking of going red with the changing of the leaves!
The goldenrod is higher than my head-and this is not the only stand in the pasture, ack!
I liked the way the grain is all sideways, it looks like Jess is defying gravity!
Sweet Jess, she is back in a good deal of pain, despite the medication.  We are going to try a stronger type when this supply runs out.

After a year of no access, we...well, Matt, used the van as a bushhog and plowed a path.

Skate Day

Today was our first skate day of the new school year!  It was PACKED.

well, not in THIS shot, it's a 4 second delay, I was playing.

Shortest one in the family-when Ben's on skates anyway.

After skating, we went to Cathy's for a bit.  She seems MUCH better!

Karen got a wheel off the pavement as she was trying to back out and we spent about an hour getting her jacked up and backed up.  I was afraid the axle was gone, but it looked fine when it was all over.  yay!  I love when things work out!

Wheeeeeee

Today was Skate Day and that was fun, but I am most excited about our new small group co-op that several of us are starting up after next week!  I think it will be a great chance for the kids to work together toward a few goals they may not have chosen on their own.  Plus, hanging out with friends is always a boost.

I took a few shots today, keep in mind, the background is clear!  I can't help the kids are all moving and therefore blurry.
